A Delayed Reaction

How long ago did ADR form?

We have been playing for 3 years as a band with different members. Our current line up only formed in the latter half of last year when we added our second guitarist Rick. We had only played a handful of shows before rick, now we have played double the amount of shows in less than half the time. Things are goin great.

For people who havent heard you, how would you describe your sound?

Think of the best band in the world and times that by 1000 and your getting close. ha ha, na I guess our sound has elements of hardcore and metal but we regard ourselves as a punk band first and foremost. Just come see us live and make up your own opinion.

Where do you draw your influences from?

We all listen to different music but bands such as Strung Out, Rise Against and Thrice are all common and then it branches off into stuff like Killswitch Engage, Trivium, Clash, Iron Maiden. Theres also alot of awesome Aussie bands around at the moment which inspires us as well. Lee Harding is definently rocking our socks...Wasabi!

What are some of your most memorable gigs?

Well we’ve had the honour of playing with So-Cal bands Pulley and No Use for Name which was unbelievable. We recently played with Aussie legends Bodyjar as well which was awesome. But every show is memorable (or un-memorbale depending on intoxication levels..ha ha).

What is your opinion of the Gold coast music Scene at the moment?

The Gold Coast has some really talented bands and there’s plenty of cool music to be heard right here on the Coast, theres just a major lack of Venues catering for All ages gigs and even over 18’s. Word up to the Cooly Hotel for keeping it alive.

The Hardcore/Metal scene has continued to grow. Where does ADR fit in on this scene?

Well Hardcore takes elements of metal and old-school punk, so you could say that we’re a hardcore band in essence but we add more of a 90’s punk feel to our sound which will hopefully distinguish us a little from your average punk or Hardcore band.

What are the plans for the future?

We got the Semi-Finals of the ‘Rock-Off’ band comp at Pac Pines Tavern coming up and we’ll take any decent gigs we’re offered. We’re not really seeking to many gigs at the moment just because we want to write some killer songs and do some demo recordings in preparation for an EP release somewhere down the track, it’s gonna sound phat. Can’t wait to get it out there.
