Adelle
by Luke Reichelt
Adelle are 4 up and coming dudes who play high-energy punk and rock inspired tunes. This month I had a chat to the guitarist, Scott

L: Who is Adelle?
S: It’s the girl we all lost our virginity too.
L: OK. Who’s in the band?
S: My name’s Scott I play guitar and share the singing. There’s Mike, he plays the other guitar and sings. Mickey plays bass and Perry plays drums (he hits squashed pigs).
L: When did you guys get together (romantically)?
S: Romantically Perry and I are related since birth.
L: What?
S: The band formed late 2005. We all went to the same high school.
L: How was high school for Adelle?
S: We were pretty sweet. Me and Mickey used to get tissues and cover them in ink and call them Michael Bolton. The teacher would put them in the bin. We’d be like “You can’t do that to Michael Bolton!”
L: Yeah you can. Are Bolton and/or Kenny G your main influences?
S: Pretty much. Maybe throw Jimmy Eat World and The Streets plus Krystal from Big Brother.
L: So what’s next for Adelle?
S: Releasing our debut full length in December. It’s called ‘When Your Vices Aren’t Vices’. Yeah. We’ve been recording it as it as we write it so you can hear the musical development of the band across the CD. We’d write 2 or 3 songs in one style (like pop-rock style songs) and then go off on a separate tangent somewhere else and maybe write 2 or 3 acoustic songs with electronic elements.
L: So it’s an eclectic album. How long did it take to make? Did you make it yourselves?
S: We started tracking it in March. Yeah we did all the engineering and producing.
L: How do you feel it came out?
S: Came out really good. I’m happy with it. We’ve gotten heaps of shows and a really good response just from having the tracks on MySpace. I’m pretty excited to have it printed on a CD. To have the whole years work put together.
L: Where will people be able to get your CD?
S: Available for free download on the internet as well as independent music stores along the north coast.
L: Got any shows coming up?
S: We’ve got the album launch on the 8th of December at the Alley Bar. We’re also playing at the Ruckus Festival with Avalon Drive.
L: Rad. How is Adelle compared to Shaquille O’Neil?
S: I’m pretty sure Shaq has been in way less adult movies than us.
