Transport

Brisbane based Rock/Funk/Alternative band Transport take the time to sit down with us, before their shows on the Gold Coast this month.

Transport are fast becoming the next big band to come out of Brisbane, what do you think is Transport’s biggest attraction ?

The biggest attraction from our point of view would have to be the diversity in our songs both live and on record. On any given night at any given show your able to transcend any monotonous tendency and spring from a ‘balls out rock’ situation to a hip hop frenzied funk dance without missing a beat. It’s all about fun and just letting loose basically!!

Your last EP had a lot of radio success on JJJ with the track, ‘Sunday Driver” how has the EP been doing? any interest overseas ?

There’s been a great responce in the UK at the moment. More commercial stations over there are looking at us and are surprised by the instant fan base a little radio play has given. As far as Australia goes I don’t think we’ve even scraped the surface and thanks to our loyal fan base we’ve managed to use the word of mouth system.

You just released a new single ‘Stone Hearted’, how has that been going for you?

I think we’re in very early stages with that one at the moment, but I’m extremely happy with the way the recording came out. We took a very live approach to this recording and I think it gives it a metaphoric heart beat that brings it to life. Plus it’s a great anthemic balls out rock song that makes you feel like your part of something bigger!!

Your first two EP’s and your new single were recorded down here on the Gold Coast with Serotonin, any chance you’ll be doing your new album down here too?

It’s definately more probable than not. We’ve got a great relationship with Serotonin and I think that will always be part of our recording process.

I see that Transport has been backing Brisbane vocalist Kate Miller-Heidke on her recent tour, as well as the Transport gigs, you always seem to playing live somewhere, how has your touring schedule been treating you ?

It’s been frantic and amazing at the same time. We pretty much haven’t stopped in the last 18 months and I can’t picture the life I used to have before touring. It really takes a different breed of person to be on the road all the time and miss the lives of the people around you. In saying that, I really wouldn’t have it any other way!!

You have been praised for your rocking live shows, how would you describe your live shows?

I look at it as being a journey and an experience. It’s a combination of bringing all of these people together in one area and succumbing to the fact that we’re all different, yet, essentially here for the one purpose. FUN!!! I think we embrace the diversity of our audience and really just want to connect everyone together and not segregate a single soul.

What can we expect from Transport in 2007 ?

First priority for us will be to record our debut album and release that by early next year. Following that I can just see us touring in Australia, possibly doing the festival circuit, and hopefully we’ll do some shows throughout the UK and Europe. Other than that I think we’ll be delving into my wish list and that’s secret!!
